GHOSTS
October 2007
story & art - Tony McGee
A three page ghost story done for the third MC2 anthology Ghosts. It's an abbreviated version of a tale I briefly considered for my StripSearchers project before settling on Otherlife.

THE MIX

A two pager intended for a humour special, it instead appeared in The Mix, an anthology by the Midlands collective MC2, and later in The Wrong Girl. You can read it at my ComicSpace page.

DEAD BY DAWN QUARTERLY #2
2006

Shane Chebsey requested a 4 page horror story so I duly obliged. An almost silent ghost story rendered in a 'woodcutty' style. You can order the title from Scar Comics, and read the strip online at ComicSpace.

90's REVIVAL
October 2007
story - Rol Hirst
art - Tony McGee
This 2003 strip was my first collaboration with The Jock creator Rol Hirst. This was originally intended for an anthology of strips about communication (or lack of it) which never appeared. It's recently been published (with colours by Dave Metcalfe) in Dave's collection of lost small press tales 90's Revival. You can read the 5 pages here.

I inked the 10 page back-up strip, but the main story didn't get finished, so unfortunately the comic never appeared.

I inked 10 pages of the one and only issue of this superteam title. I later inked a few pages of Mark's Anti-Everything #3, but again only the first issue saw daylight.

CHEROKEE CRASH #2

The one and only Relic strip, which was an Egyptian gods inspired superhero thingy. Funski had a detailed manga-esque style, but I don't think he did anything after this. I inked 3 or 4 pages of the strip, although I never saw a copy.

BUMFLUFF MOUSTACHE
Aug 1998
story & art - Tony McGee
Scripted on a bus and drawn inside a week in 1995, my first written (well, silent) strip was eventually published in Dave Metcalfe's delightfully titled anthology. I'm still quite pleased with this, even if it contains some of my ugliest artwork ever. Read it here.

DARK ZONE #19-20

This World War II superhero love story was never completed as Dark Zone got cancelled. The 3rd part and some of the 4th were finished. It was nice working with Dave for once, but it just wasn't up my street.

Originally titled Raskolnikov, then renamed after the Manics song. This was a Dostoevsky inspired metaphorical train story in 4 parts, intended for a flipbook, but in the end published as one collection. This is my favourite of our many collaborations and features some of my best early artwork.

Crazy strip title, crazy comic. My #3 fill-in debuted the Gimp (not to mention the Nippleman). #7 featured a Jung and Freud double act. I also drew the finished but never printed #9, as seen here.

My first work in the small press, it proved a learning experience for us both. After printing the first issue Darren decided to serialise it instead in Stephen Prestwood's anthology Dark Zone. A future detective strip, I drew 7 of its 9 parts.
